The wonderfully talented Cyril & Nanna have turned their hands to writing a play and acting in it respectively. (Well while the knee is busy jigging about the hand has to have something to do...) AND WE COULDN'T RECOMMEND IT MORE HIGHLY:
Moon River tells the story of 87-year old Glad as she struggles to make a home in the alien surroundings of a residential slash day centre for pensioners in leafy Chingford. A place where worlds clash, hearts break and territory is won or lost on the roll of a bingo ball.
This lyrical comedy from Seiriol Davies is a fearless examination of old age in contemporary Britain. It was grown from a core of verbatim text gathered from the elders of Hackney and Chingford.
On the 10th and 17th of December come and get your lil' donkey on and join the party with games, singy songs and everything you've come to expect from the people who once just about managed a balloon drop.
Nanna is trying to pass off her dandruff as spray-on snow and Cyril is trying to pass off his rosy cheeks as spray-on sherry, and both are gearing up to pass some parcels around under the Christmas tree*. It will make you utterly, utterly festive and to top it all you'll get a complimentary mulled wine and a mince pie as a sort of bribe.
* - Christmas Tree may be metaphorical.
